How Are We Different?

Sole Source - Our firm was founded to minimize the expense and inefficiencies associated with the single placement relationships offered by large retained executive search firms like Korn Ferry, Russell Reynolds, and Heidrick and Struggles. These are fine companies with great services, but are simply the wrong tool for the job. Startups and early stage companies require a different service. The specific inefficiencies have to do with time and money. Recruiting is not cheap, primarily due to the extensive research required to source people for your company. Why would you want to pay for all of this research, harvest a single placement from this effort, and then abandon this resource? It doesn't make sense because it is likely that several searches will be conducted in the early stages of a company and each search would require you to reinvent the same core research, resulting in longer and more expensive projects. At TCI, our Senior Partners have built entire executive teams from both the inside of companies as well as outside recruiting contractors. Investment – In addition to taking equity fees, TCI frequently invests it own money in our clients. One recent project, TCI placed 5 executives (CEO, VP of Sales, VP of Marketing, VP of Engineering, and VP of Services) without taking any cash out of the company! Our Senior Partners often serve on Advisory Boards for our clients enabling us to apply the overwhelming amount of valuable information that is created during a search project.
